james (my fiance) at his 21st birthday party. doesn’t he look so happy? he was definitely surprised. i love surprising him. he deserves the world, and one day i’m going to give it to him.
another photo from kasey’s shoot. i was thinking about tweaking it, but that just isn’t my style. i capture photos the way i see them, and they shouldn’t be altered.
downtown charleston, west virginia. march of ‘10.
i’m pretty sick today so i haven’t gone through any more photos, nor have i called keiser about changing majors or called my doctors (very important) about a ct/bloodwork. i need to get myself out of this funk and make sure i’m okay.
finally going through photos of kasey from last month. one of many taken at traditions. amazing friend, gorgeous model.
tumblr has become my life so i decided instead of only having one personal account, i might as well start one for photography. i feel like flickr is dead, although i know it’s not. i just don’t have as much enthusiasm for the site anymore. anyway, here’s a bit about me…
my name is ashley curry, i live in south florida and i’ve been shooting photos since before i can remember. i got my first professional camera (canon rebel eos xs) last year for christmas but before that, i was slowly climbing up the kodak tree. performance easyshares were my life, but i constantly had malfunction problems with them. i thank my dad ALL the time for such a wonderful christmas gift.
i see photos as inspiration, and when i have inspiration, my eye sees everything. i have taken quite a few photos in my 22 years of life, and i have to say, although i’m no professional, this is a passion that i hope to pass down to everyone and anyone i can. it’s my escape, my way to express myself.
as i said, i’m 22 years old… and engaged to be married. not only did i get an amazing camera for christmas, i was proposed to! i can’t say 2010 was my best year, but it sure did come with a lot of surprises. i have a wonderful home that is paid off, as well as a decent car that is paid off, and a fiance who puts me first… in every situation. i lost my mom a year and a half ago, and although i miss her every day, i can’t be ungrateful for what i’ve got. i’ve got a WHOLE lot.
i am suffering from cirrhosis of the liver (non alcohol related, obviously). there are days when i care barely drag myself out of bed, let alone take a photo. i try not to let that stop me and lately, i’ve been bringing my camera everywhere. i have some many photos i have yet to edit, but it’s all about creativity and doing what you want, and what you see is right. i will get around to editing and taking new photos soon. the holidays are coming, so that means christmas photos! i hope to find tons of families, couples, kids, friends and puppies to shoot for the season. so excited.
there’s a lot more about me that i could say, but this post is getting pretty long. here is one of my favorite self-portaits. it was taken on 8/10/10, just before i dyed my hair pink. leather and 100 degree weather don’t mix, but we all know they make for a great photo.
i hope to make a lot of new friends and followers with this blog. follow me and if i like your stuff, i’ll definitely follow/promote you. :)
